location
Stanford Sierra Camp
Nestled between Mt. Tallac and Fallen Leaf Lake, Stanford Sierra Camp is a stunning place to spend a few days and soak in the beauty of the Sierras. We first met just down the mountain on the Yuba River and have camped in nearby Desolation Wilderness many times. We hope you love it as much as we do!
Getting there
For those flying in you have a few options:
- San Francisco Bay Area (SFO/OAK/SJC). The drive from the Bay Area to Stanford Sierra Camp usually takes about 3½ hours but can vary based on the weight of your right foot.
- Reno, Nevada (RNO) is about 1½ hrs from the venue. The usual car rental services are available or you can take the South Tahoe Airporter shuttle to Stateline, NV and request a pick up by the Stanford Sierra Camp shuttle. Be sure to coordinate with them in advance if you plan to use this option.
If you are renting a car or driving your own car, rest assured there will be plenty of space for parking at the venue.
lodging
Stanford Sierra Camp has plenty of lodging for everyone and we've got the whole place to ourselves so we hope you stay with us, on us. No reservations or payment are required — you'll receive your room assignment upon arrival. The rooms are simple and comfortable (heated with bedding and towels provided).
If you do want to stay elsewhere, just let us know and take your pick of a number of options in South Lake Tahoe: a 30 minute drive from Stanford Sierra Camp.
COVID precautions
We want to make this as safe an event as possible so we ask that guests be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Based on current practices for large group gatherings, we will also be providing antigen tests to be taken upon your arrival. Thank you for staying safe with us.
attire
Early June in Tahoe generally has highs in the low 70s (~23°C) and can drop to the low 40s (~5°C) at night. Rarely, but sometimes, it snows in June. We'll keep you posted as we get closer to the date but plan to bring plenty of layers to stay comfortable through the day and night.
For the ceremony we hope you'll wear a smile and something that makes you feel both pretty and comfortable. And don't forget your bathing suit for the wedding day polar plunge.
Other than that, we'll be in the Sierras so bring your favorite hiking/outdoors clothes.
